Housing Expeditor

The Iron Range Housing Expeditor is assisting communities on the Mesabi Iron Range of Minnesota to develop workforce housing. The need for this new housing is magnified by the realization of several major industrial projects and expansions in this area. There is a need for both temporary construction workforce housing and permenent workforce housing.

Expeditor Information

The Housing Work Team, through the Arrowhead Regional Development Commission (ARDC), has hired a consulting housing firm to assist the Team with housing project implementation. The firm, Community Partners Research, has significant experience in expediting housing developments as is now available to the communities on the Iron Range. Work Plan

The Expeditor duties are to assist communities to develop housing. Community Partners can help with:

  • Project feasibility analysis
  • Site identification
  • Grants writing
  • Negotiations with funding sources
  • Finance packaging
  • Preparing RFPs
  • Developing new innovative projects and programs to address housing needs
  • Addressing infrastructure needs
  • Working with government jurisdictions to accommodate housing development
  • Continued long and short term planning
  • Coordinating stakeholder efforts
  • Publicity
  • Monitoring programs and projects
  • Assisting with development agreements, land negotiations, etc.
  • Assisting with creating partnerships
  • Utilizing resources that already exist in the region
  • Other activities as necessary
